Fagron UK, part of the Fagron Group, has launched a unique genetic test for hair loss. Fagron TrichoTest™ analyses a patient's DNA and lifestyle factors to determine the cause of a patient’s hair loss and recommend the most compatible treatment options.
The test analyses 3 polymorphisms within 16 DNA mutations (SNPs), analysing a total of 48 genetic variations.
Detecting SNPs facilitates the understanding of specific characteristics of the metabolism of a patient that are related to hair loss.
Peter Batty, General Manager at Fagron UK, commented:
‘Studies show there is a relationship between a patient’s genetic profile and lifestyle factors, and how their hair loss responds to different types of treatment.
This means not all hair loss treatments work for everybody and the success of any given treatment is dependent on a patient’s genetic profile and lifestyle factors. In some cases, prescribing the wrong treatment can make hair loss worse and put a patient’s health at risk.’
The DNA analysis criteria used by Fagron TrichoTest™ have been scientifically validated from population studies, presenting a significative global incidence. In fact, the process is 99.9% accurate.
‘Thanks to the unique analysis performed by Fagron TrichoTest™ we can identify which hair loss treatments are most likely to provide the best results for patients
The information provided by the test allows trichologists to create an informed and personalised treatment plan specific to their patient’s genetic coding – this leads to vastly improved results and patient safety.’
Fagron TrichoTest™ is available in the UK now. Further information can be found by visiting www.testforhairloss.com.
